Joshua Hoffine

I really like the idea of staged photography. He treats his frames like a movie set; combining things like elaborate set designs, costumes, make-up, lighting, etc. The use of Photoshop is supposedly very limited in all of these pictures. He's a personal favourite of mine and a total inspiration to myself and my work. Please have a looksy!!!

I HEART HOLGAS!!!

I really enjoy taking surreal photos and really enjoy the pictures I get using my holga, even though they're so cheaply made. I recommend that everyone try using one at least once. Here are some examples of pictures taken with holgas

The Vagina Show

I just submitted a photograph into this show. If it gets accepted, I will further my thoughts with a thesis statement.

Here are a few details about the theme and how to submit:

The Vagina Show

Breaking Stereotypes
THE VAGINA SHOW
Sun Feburary 14th @ The Trumbullplex in Detroit

Art Show about women, their bodies and the world we live in.

For those of you that don't already know, Valentine's Day (Feb 14th) is not only a day when we remind others that we love them and give Hallmark and various chocolate companies our money, but also a global movement to stop violence against women.

On V-day millions of people world wide will be participating in various types of events that deal with various women's issues ranging from negative body image and gender sterotypes to rape and battery. The Vigina Show will showcase any art including such themes.

There is an OPEN CALL FOR ARTWORK for the show now until Feb 10th. If you, or someone you know is interested in intering any form of art work just e-mail a discription or jpeg at sis_artistry@ yahoo.com or call me at 313-544-8317.

Shameless Self Promotion

I find nothing wrong with self promotion...and poetry is like a photograph with words.

Joerg Colberg posted this video on Conscientious today about Roger Ballen. I like how Ballen speaks about his work.

A website I stumbled upon

I had just received the new issue of photographer's Forum the other day and while reading it there was an add for a new website that has a bunch of tips on careers, techniques and also sells photography materials. I'm still checking this website out but it seems to be a nice interesting site.

Photographer Chic

I found this in a magazine last week. Who knew that looking like a photographer was so fashionable. They can have the bag; I rather have the Leica :)

Michael Kenna

I stumbled across Michael Kenna while doing the emulation assignment from intro. He's done some interesting night photography, and does a lot of work with long exposures.

Art Clokey Died (sad face)

You might be saying to yourself, "Hey! What does Gumby have to do with Art 326?"
Film production has strong relations to our medium and stop motion has a direct connection to still photography....

Besides, who can honestly say they don't like Gumby?

RIP Art Clokey

Welcome!

Welcome to The Intermediate Photography class blog.

As a first post I'd like to introduce you to the amazing work of photographer Michael Hall.
Michael Hall

Hall's muted color palette is compelling and helps to convey his broader message through small patches of mildly saturated colors. Look through his web site and see how his use of color affects his larger concept.
